R.I.P.? Super Bear Arcade (Big Bear, CA)

I recently bought many of the classic machines in there via a deal with the bank who owns the property. I'm teaming up with timthearcadeguy.com to sell these off out of this garage in the next couple of months. We'll be converting the EDOT in a xxx-1 (Blue Elf).

Nooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

I'm not sure what all remain of the classics that are seen in the earlier photos of the Super Bear. I was told that the former owner was leasing it out to an operator who stole/sold off a lot of the valuable classics. I don't have any more details or confirmation if that story is true. I'd still like to get inside and see what all is left.

Please tell me this is a joke......

When I was up there I saw nothing that interesting in there...no Edot...
but it is a big place and it could have been out of my range of view.

I'd been there a bunch of times

I'd been there a bunch of times and never saw too much that was good for sure no tron's. they did have some classics as well as a few good but very very worn pins non working of course. It is a crying shame they are closed but 50% of the games didn't work. I too would love to get in there but don't expect anything on condition. Imagine those broken pins with 10 year old AA's in them. Sad.....

A bussiness that lets it's sources of income break will inevitably close down. Disrepair and lack of care is to me one of the biggest reasons why arcades close and wrote a long article on it.

The following eBay member is auctioning off Mold-A-Rama souvenirs from a machine that was "found" in a Big Bear Lake CA penny arcade (http://myworld.ebay.com/2222grumbles/). One of the souvenir auctions http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rare-One-of...114?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e6d2038ca

Their auction states the following "It (Mold-A-Rama machine) was discovered while we were renovating the Original penny arcade." I don't know if this person is affiliated with the particular arcade in question or if they have any pertinent information but I thought it might be worth posting here.

Good luck!

Wow thanks for posting.. Those mold a Rama machines are rare and hard to find them selves. They do have some pretty hard core collectors too.

Super bear how bad can it be?

The super bear arcade had a ton of money invested when the new owner took over amd subed it. Several new games, fresh paint, repair to several machines, the bathrooms and fixtures throughout were redone, prizes and prize system was changed but 2 things remained the same from the old owners the coustomer base and employes. They would steal money from the register, the machines, the safe any where they could get it. The locals were not much help as the place was almost always empty and often broke into or vandilized but hey thats business sometimes you have to walk away. But i will say the place is for sale so if you got the money and the time give it a shot, whats the worst that can happen? Its not bank owned or short sale im sure the seller is motivated keep the home of the .25 cent skiball alive

It seems the owner is not interested in selling the games though. Either that or he doesn't check mail at either of the two addresses listed and doesn't drop by the arcade to check out any notices....

How are you connected to the arcade?

Went through some old pictures today, and had a few of this arcade.

So...I'm starting to get the feeling that the next news we'll hear about the place is that it burned down. :(

Checked in on the Super Bear this weekend while up in Big Bear. The building is now empty. The arcade murals are still on the walls, but all video games, pins, skee ball, prize counter, etc. are gone. Anyone know anything?
