Ugh...I broke my back only to break the neck....
I spent nearly a week getting the monitor in my Centipede Cabaret to work. Recapped it, new width coil, resoldering and tinkering like I have never resoldered or tinkered before. Headache after headache. But then, I found the culprit cold joint. The picture was beautiful, stable, and ready for action.
Put the monitor back in the cabinet, hooked up the cables and started screwing the mounts back in. I accidentally pushed one of the screws backwards, so I had to reach around the back of the cabinet to push it back out. I reached above the monitor, felt a static shock, I jumped, smacked the neck board with my elbow, saw a flash, heard a hiss, and all my hard work gets reduced to what can be a large lead-glass flowerpot. The horror stories you read about these incidents never seem bad until it happens to you. Take it from me.
Unless I can snag a cheap used tube with or without burn, Ill be parting it out. Its not economical for me to spend $125 on the game, $20 in parts, and pop an extra $130+ for a new tube. I was going to sell it anyway.
Sigh....All that work......
