I recently picked up a Rocky and bullwinkle that had the power switched all fucked up and soldered together. The only way to power it on and off is to plug and unplug it. ANyway went and bought a new power switch cut the power wires free of a horrible solder job .Hook up the switch and bam power. The problem is when I flip the switch off I keep blowing a fuse. It seems that its power surging somewhere. What should I check or look at or look for . Please help .what did i do. If i leave the switch on and unplug it from the wall all is good but if i use the switch to turn it off . I pop a fuse. Its a 5a fuse thats located in the box thats above the switch . It has to fuse holders in it. Thanks .hope someone has an answer. PEace.

Is the 3-prong AC plug intact, i.e. has someone cut the ground pin of the plug off?

Is it possible the Hot (black) and Common (white) wires are reversed, either at the power switch or at the 3-prong AC plug (ground to green, hot to brass, common to silver)?

Not sure if this would cause those problems, but it couldn't hurt to check the varistor in the power switch box.

what should i check? the plug is fine i jsut put a new socket on it adn made sure that the wires were right. Im just not to sure about the wiresfor the power supply. I figured all white wires are + and the black are -. Could it be that there is a break in the main ground wire somewhere or what ? Keep them coming .I have to get this fixed im shopping this whole thing and want to get it done by sun. Thanks

Like RussMyers said......On AC wiring black is usaully the "hot" connection, small blade on wall plug and white is "neutral" the larger blade on the wall plug ..green is ground

my colors on my plug wires are yellow/green,blue, and brown. I had the y/g to the ground and the short plug hooked to the brown adn then the blue is the other one .Please let me know if i f$cked up.This is driving me crazy!!!

Anyone have one of these that can take a picture of the inside of the cabs power supply wiring and the transformer block. Thanks

The yellow green wire in the plug goes to ground. The brown wire goes to the service outlet (small slot ) then through the fuse , to one side of hte varistor then to the switch.
The blue wire goes to the service outlet, (large slot), to the other side of the varistor, then to the switch. Check the switch with your ohm meter for proper operation and wire placement, make sure when you close the switch the blue and brown don't get shorted together, but just pass through to the other contacts of the switch. Coming from the other contacts of the switch the wires go to the transformer. Go here for a picture of the power in circuit, scrol down to page 44 power wiring diagram.

Im taking pics tomm. I know this machine has been hacked of some wires I just need to know what ones are what. I have looked at the manual ,but im still learning how to read the wiring charts. Hopefully with the pics you guys can tell me what i need to do. Thanks again and have a great day!!!

These pics are from a DE Star Wars. I would assume that they are the same or very similar in set up. Hope this helps.

Ok !! Here are the pics of what i am dealing with .There are wires cut and ones have electric tape .Can anyone make this mess out. I know this was a 220v model , so are the wires that are cut important or not. If i wire the white and black wires to hte wires coming from the emi filter it will power up and play perfect but the power switch does not work . does this have the wrong power switch ? Do i need one with four prongs?Any help would be great!!! And the wall plug is wired correctly. Thanks guys

Not sure about that power switch. It does not look to be a regular one for that game. look at the photos I posted earlier it should help with the wiring for the switch. I think you need a new switch though for everything to hook up right.

I will try to take a picture of my connectors to help you see where those cut wires go to. Might be a couple of days it is REALLY cold in that garage!

Good luck and I would order a new switch from one of the usual places, try pinball for life.

Put the white wire on one of the emi wires and put the black wire on one of the switch wires and the other switch wire on the other wire from the emi. This will work but you are only switching one of the power wires. To switch both you need a 4 terminal switch 2 wires in ( black and white ) and 2 wires going to the emi.
