Got one of my PO monitors going and on both monitors the sound is extra quiet.

I ended up getting 2 4 amp speakers from mikesarcade:
http://mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=SPKR6IN

and swapping between monitors it is quite quiet.
I had to make the cable from the speaker to the amp and I'm using 22GA stranded wire. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.

Any thoughts?

Are you running it with the transformer on the monitor, that the red and white wires come out of? I'd swap one way or the other, if you're using the transformer get rid of it, if you're not, use it, etc. It may have something to do with it, you may not need it with the new speakers, I'm not sure.

I am using the transformer. I have the wires running from the harness to the little 3 pin connector on the amp board, and then I'm running the red/white wires from the amp to the speakers.

So you're saying I should remove the amp? Doesn't that control the volume?

No the way it goes is like you said, the little 3 wire harness on the left side is where the audio goes in, then the audio goes out of the board and into a power transformer, and then out the other side of it to the speakers.

I'm saying try taking the power transformer out of it (so just run the speakers straight from the amplifier board, don't run through the transformer first)

Not sure if that will work, but with a different speaker, maybe it doesn't need the transformer?

Went ahead and recapped the amp board on and removed the transformer and still had the same issue. Desoldered the volume pot in the cab (a slight pain the a**) but after doing so saw that one of the legs of the volume pot had a hairline fracture. Replaced the pot and BOOM! super loud punch out music. Lowered volume and did a victory dance.

fixed!

Now to track down a coin door and the bezel glass.
