Hey gang, just finishing up my first Polo rebuild, and I noticed that unlike the original flyback where the metal clip off the core bends down so it can be soldered to the board, the new flyback doesn't. I can only assume this might act as a heatsink or just extra support. I popped the old clip off in the image included. Can I assume this isn't necessary? The flybacks were the same model number. I took a look around but didn't find relevant guidance. Thanks in advance.

its not necessary but if your not using it fill the old hole in the pcb with solder. i have swapped them from the original and used them and others i have not but either way it won't matter.

Hey Peter, thanks for the info. Everything; flyback, cap kit, and HOT came from your shop. I've been using your stuff pretty much exclusively for a while now. Follow up, would it be possible to just swap the clips out, or would that cause some unforeseen issue? I've already checked and the old one would fit. Perhaps I'm putting too much thought into this and giving myself extra work.

thank you for the support. it wouldn't hurt but totally unnecessary. i never switch them anymore on mine.
