I remember a thread about throwing a converted CP in an oven to help melt the glue and remove the CPO... cant find the thread anywhere and want to try this.

Just need to know how long, and what temperature?

And if theres any requests for me to make another how-to video on this, Ill be happy to do that too.

400* 1-3 minutes.

don't cook it, just heat it up. have a putty knife or scraper ready to peel it and test if it's loose enough

how long = 1min 10sec to 1min 30sec. Keep an eye on the cpo as it should not show any visual melting or browning.

As for how hot I just set my oven as high as it will go which I think may be 550 or 450 something like that. Of course make sure the oven is preheated before you put the cp in. Only do this for metal cp's. Well it might work for wood but I doubt it as they reason this works so well is the metal heats up and stays heated which makes it pretty easy to remove the cpo. Have a heat safe place to set the cp when removed from the oven. have an oven mitt or whatever to grab the cp with as it will be hot and you don't want to burn yourself. Might also want a metal scraper or knife on hand to help get a corner up. One other note is if the cpo is really badly cracked and worn everywhere, this method doesn't help too much as the cpo will still come off in a million pieces and be a pain. Have a cleaner like goo gone on hand to do the finish clean up since some glue residue will be left behind on the cp.

You probably already know which CP I'm dealing with here :)

I should also ask, this isnt going to stink up my house, is it?

personally I believe it has little or no smell. Others claim it smells a little. As I mentioned the point is actually only to heat the metal cp and loosen the glue not to melt the cpo. Make sure you remove the wood, wiring , buttons ect. from that cp and of course basically strip it down to where you are only baking the metal cp with cpo.

Here's my video:

ANd yes there are better ways, but it was fun. And I did some very large parts in one go, but the video got shot after that... the really flat parts went off very quickly and smoothly. The small angled parts are the hard areas...
