Hi all,

Is Atari's Vindicators a good game ? and worth a restore ?

I can get a cheap cabinet with gameboard, it has the controllers and monitor no art and cab could use some TLC.

I've not played it, but it's in a cool looking cab. Just dunno if it's worth it or not.

Thanks

It's kind of a love/hate game.

I liked it BITD. I think it's a much better 2 player game than 1 player game due to the competition designed into the game.

Resale value is pretty low in general.

Virtually every one has the thumb controllers as non-functional for some reason.

Yeah that's what I thought. More for a 'That's a cool looking cab' more than playing it lol.

Well if I can get it for what I want to pay I might get it, if not then bye bye.

Thanks for posting. It was what I was thinking anyway

There was a similar thread on here maybe 4-6 weeks ago asking the same question that got a number of responses. You might go look for it as it'd give you a wider range of opinions.

If your thinking restore and sell, then no. If you think you want to play it, then maybe.

You will find that 1 or more of the contollers buttons don't work. Very common failure and you need all of them working.. They are somewhat expensive($15 each).

If you do piece it together and go to sell it, the game will fetch maybe $350. It would not be an easy game to sell..

I would say play it before you buy it. If its cheap enough, get it and see if you like it.

Thanks for the info guys.

I like just for the look of the cabinet :D

I'll put more thought in it and play it on MAME to get an idea.

$350 to sell would be in minty condition with an enthusiastic buyer that just had to have it.

In the real world I expect it'd be a lot less.

And don't get me wrong -- I like the game; it's a fun 2 player game and it does have a unique look!

Ah. I should add that the $350 price was in US dollars in the US market.

Your mileage will probably vary in Australia.

Thanks all, decided not to get it

That's too bad. My restoration should be finished by this weekend. If you have an opportunity to play one sometime, give it a shot. As others have said, the resell value may not be great, but I find it very enjoyable game. I guess you either love it or hate it.
