I am almost done restoring a pacman that i got that had water damage to the back of it .I am almost done with the door and was wondering how important the four vents are at the lower part of the door. The reason I am asking is I dont have a router and need to know if its totally needed .If its the power supply thats one thing because im turning it into a 60-1 and i need a new power supply (i think).I know several of you have gone throught this so fill me in .Thanks fellow Klovers and keep playin with your joysticks!

You do need some sort of ventilation. I suppose you could get away with a non-conventional vent(s). It is the back side after all. Not like your going to see it most of the time. And I bet no one would notice any ways. I put a new power supply in when I stuck a 48:1 in my pac. I did that on advice.

If you don't care about being exact to the original, all you need is a drill and a jigsaw. Cut four round holes in each of the corners of the vent section then just use the jigsaw to cut from hole to hole. Pretty easy and will look close to original.

For heated air to leave the top of the cabinet, it needs to draw fresh air in from the bottom. Don't open those holes and your convective cooling is diminished greatly.

As Spyridon said, you don't need a router. But to make them really pretty without one, make the connecting cuts between your drilled holes with a circular saw instead of a jig saw. Start with the trailing edge of the blade just forward (1/4" or so) of your starting hole and plunge down through the panel on the cut line. First back up to meet the starting hole, then go forward to the opposite hole. The result will be a perfectly straight line. If you marked your lines correctly, the cut will intersect at a tangent and look great.

Thanks guys .I went to Loews today and bought a jigsaw and took care of the door .Thanks for all your input and Ill post pics when im done!!Keep playin with your joysticks!!!
