Quick & Crash hits don't register until the game warms up

My Quick & Crash targets don't seem to "see" the light from the gun when the game has just been turned on.

If I play about 3 games, the targets begin to register hits and thereafter work properly for the rest of the session.

If I start the game, leave it on for an hour, and then try playing the targets do not work any better. Warm-up games are still needed.

To me, this implies an issue in the light source, not the sensors or the optical cable. But I am not sure where to start a fix. Any ideas?

A common failure for Quick & Crash games is that the fiber optic cable in the gun "hose" breaks. On two of my games, the glass fibers in the optic cable failed. I repaired the optic cable with shrink tubing to hold the broken ends in alignment. Also, check the large capacitor in the zenon light source. Last, check that the brass end of the fiber optic cable is secured in it's clips inside the zenon light source box. The pair of clips look like a fuse holder. Good luck, Denny

Thanks Denny!

Are you aware of any vendors stocking parts for this game? Board work I can do, but stuff like the optical cable and target sensors I'd sure like to get spares for.

Spare parts for Q & C are not easy to find and they are expensive. Namco has some, but even they are out of sensors and are looking for a new supplier. I have picked up some displays and boards on ebay.
