I posted this over on rgvac but thought I might get a better chance at an answer here. Does anyone have any experience with the 39-in-1 boards? Is there any emulation/hardware issues? Are they basically the same as the 60-in-1 ver. A's minus the 21 other games? I see that they are quite a bit cheaper ($75 cheaper). Or are they a cut down 60-in-1 ver. B? In which case they are only a few bucks cheaper.

I would judge the 60B's to be better quality than the 39's - even the 39A's. The 39's had a problem where they would lose memory sporadically, which sucks if it's on free play and the person who knows how to program it isn't around.

I haven't had an issue with 60B's at all now, and at $50 + shipping direct from the supplier, it's hard to beat the price...

Thanks for that info. I was under the impression that the ver A 60's were quite a bit better than the ver B's. Can you point me in the direction of where I could buy them direct from the manufacturer like you said? I am in the process of building and selling a series of bartops to help supplement my restoration efforts and that price is pretty good!!

Back a year or two ago, the A's were better than the B's due mainly to the fact the the on-board connectors for the trackballs weren't working on the B's, but the new "smaller version" they sell now seems to have fixed that issue (that some of us have seen anyway).

Anyway, for you and the others who keep PMing me for the "secret" of buying these things, here are the instructions on how to order. Bear in mind that the $50 price is BEFORE shipping and the 3.5% credit card or 4% PayPal fee they tak on. The shipping on one board will be about $28, with an additional $12 (maybe more maybe less) for each additional board. They ship fast, though (Air Express usually).

Instructions:

email Fannie at [email protected]

Tell her you want a Classic 60 B (tell her how many or get an A Version or 19-in-1 or Blue Elf, etc. Ask for a price list of what they offer if you want other stuff). Giver her your name and shipping address, and tell her if you want to pay via PayPal or Credit Card. She'll send you back one or two documents for you to sign (depending on whether you use credit card or not) and then fax back to her (she's in Hong Kong). Then you pay (if using PayPal) and they ship right away.

If you want to save on faxing, you could always scan your signed documents and e-mail them back to her. That seems to work, too, but not everyone has a scanner...

I recommend using PAYPAL to pay as they have a lower exchange rate than most credit cards. The first time ordered I used a CC and got hit for the exchange...
