Questions on Wire Selector Harness for X Men 4 Player Konami Machine & Sound Problem

Hey guys. i had a few easy questions for some of ya>

Objective>> I want to be able to switch between 2 possibly 3 different boards in my X Men 4 player Konami Cab. Preferabbly Simpsons 4 player and the TMNT 4 Player. All with the simple push of a button that i will attach to the control panel front.

Questions>
1. What do i need?
2. Will this work? http://www.arcademvs.com/ARCADE_ACESSERIOR.htm 4th one down?
3. That adaptor says it will allow 2 different games, is that including 2 new games plus my x men board? or do i plug in the xmen board and then other. So i basically have 2 boards/games to play?
4. What about the 6 slot adaptor?
5. Also is this machine even a 56 pin? Or am i totally looking in the wrong place?

I have also had a sound problem with my x men that im hoping i can get fixed very soon. Im still learning about it and going to try and do some tests to see whats going on with it. Basically this thing has worked fine for years and then one day it had a ton of static over the speakers and then later that day the sound dissapeared completely. Im hoping maybe it was just the speakers but not quite sure yet. Anyone have this machine and have had any sound issues with it. Thanks in advance for reading my post :)

Any help would be great. Im very new to stuff like this, but i know you guys know your stuff. thanks!

I may be wrong but I would guess that your speaker is fine. Possibly a connectivity, bad pot or board issue. I'm not familiar with this board though. I assume that the sound is amplified on the board and not by an external amp of some kind. Sometimes the amp chip on these boards will die or a capacitor that is in the circuit that affects sound will go bad and need replacing. These are all things to look into or replace if the parts are cheap like capacitors tend to be.

The info I found on this games pin out seems to point to it being jamma plus. So basically a jamma connector that also utilizes extra wiring to make the game work. I would think other jamma boards would be swapable into that harness. They would simply not use the extra wiring. I have not done a side by side comparison of this games pin out and a standard jamma pin out though so I'm not 100% sure.

Does your X men on the on board amp chip?

something printed on it like "konami 054986A "? they are known to go out, and no new replacements..

I may have a used one off another board...

they are known to go out...

Your sound problem is likely the hybrid chip on the PCB (black chip in the corner with lots of caps on top). the caps start leaking (much like an old battery) and eat away at traces under the black coating on top of the chip. Once they go theres usually not much you can do. You can try scraping away the coating and bridging broken traces. If that dosent work your pretty much out of luck.

X-Men 4P, Simpsons 4P and TMNT 4P are all JAMMA Plus (+). The JAMMA harness only supports the first 2 players, players 3 and 4 run on another harness (or 2 in some cases) that plug into the PCB. You can use a 2-1 or 6-1 remote splitter, but then you'd also have to get the extra P3 and P4 harnesses for each game and splice them into your existing harnesses.

hey guys thanks for the tips, so doing a selector would be a major pain then. I guess the easiest would be to just pull the board out and swap in the new one anytime i wanted to play another game then.

Thanks guys
