Questions about Nintendo Vs. Arcades (what should i do with my conversion)

Hey guys i have some questions on a Nintendo Vs. Conv i got given to me.

1. Were there particular marquess bezels made for the Nintendo Vs. conversion kits? The reason i ask is i see some marquess for the Nintendo Vs. Machines that look like mine, minus the red nintendo logo and bars around the marquee?? I saw the castlevania marquee that just ended on ebay had the bars like mine.

2. Also i want to fix up the CPO on my Vs. Conversion but it appears to be like a sticker covering the CPO? Does anyone ever find the vinyl like material to fix up the Nintendo Vs. machines that were made from old Pac cabs?? If so im a buyer if you have some. (i dont think the common CPO's online from the original nintendo cabs will fit will they?

3. Also is it worth fixing up this nintendo vs.? I mean i know everyone here wants original dedicated stuff, but im in this thing for free ATM, so any upgrades i do to it would be the first cash i put in it. Opinions?

Here's a pic of mine so you know what i mean>

4. Also its still playing blind. I put a new cap kit in it and touched up a ton of solder joints and im still getting nothing but white raster on the screen so i think it might just be hooked up wrong or a board problem. any ideas of other things to check?

5. What do the batteries on the PCB do? they were all horrible and corroded when i got to them.

I think the grey vinyl was an op choice, not needed in this case. I have only seen the marquee/bezel style you have in these conversions. The CPO is a full wrap and I know of no repro source other than ink jet from Mamemarquees. I fixed/cleaned up one of these in a converted Galaxian cab for a local Supper Club. I just painted the CP Bright red to match the red in the bezel-style marquee. I also removed the glass bezel, flipped it, masked the monitor area off and sprayed black Krylon Fusion in a nice bezel/border about 3-4 inches wide:

Nintendo made a conversion kit for Pac-Man cabinets, that's what you have.

The larger marquees designed for your Midway style cabinet have the added 'Nintendo filler' on the top and bottom.

Remove the batteries from the PCB, you don't need them. They are for saving operator bookkeeping stuff.

Mamemarquees should be able to print you a CPO that will work with that cabinet.

It's worth saving if you like Nintendo Vs. games.

Reseat your roms and PPU, make sure you have the RP2A04 chip installed. Throw the batteries away and clean the acid off with vinegar.

He said it's playing blind. Sounds like a monitor issue. I wouldn't touch the PCB if you hear the game playing. Check video connection and adjust/fix monitor.

A Ninty playing blind. Never heard of it. Turn down your brightness.

awesome thanks for the tips guys ill try that tonight. Hopefully i can get it working. im a huge nintendo fan so i would like to fix this up. ill get in touch with mame marques to see if they can print me a CPO, if it isnt to much ill go that route. If its alot the red painted cpo dont look bad. thanks!

BTW on my board there are i think like 12 eproms on the board, 6 on both sides of the vs. board? but this is a single system? Do i need to reseat all of them on both sides?

Sounds like your board has a second game on it. The roms in the 6 and 8 locations are used for the single monitor cabs. If you put ROMs on the other side, they are ignored. On Super Mario Bros. you need a second CPU on the other side to make it work.

yea i have neck glow, replaced all caps (ALL CAPS) even the ones BR didnt have. I have to turn the black level ALL the way up to get white raster, if i turn it down just a little bit the monitor is black.

oh i also checked the +5v on the board and it was at 5.08 so i think that checks good too.
