Has anyone here run Satan's Hollow with a switching power supply? If so I'd be interested in your experiences. Specifically are there any audio issues?

Thanks.

I have one in my Tron and it works fine. I don't have any hum during the game. I do have some during the attract mode, but I think that's due to the attract sound mod. I really got to put that resistor back. Tron and SH use the same boardset so I can't imagine you will have trouble. I just used a simple wiring harness that I rigged up to make the adapter, no real need to buy a premade one if you have a crimper.

That's not due to your modification; that is a common symptom with all MCR games that run off a switcher: the game will buzz/hum to some extent during attract mode, but be silent (as in normal) during play. If the OP decides to put a switcher in his SH, the only real question is: will he be able to live with whatever level of attract mode hum results....

Outside of the 3-PCB set and the MCR Power board shown below, I just came across another PCB that I'm wondering if I need or not.

Can anyone tell me the specifics on the PCB in the pic on the far left, and if it is needed?

(I'm assuming that there are no other PCBs missing).

Thanks.

MCR ATX kits

If you get frustrated with the MCR ps, I've got a couple new MCR ATX adapters and ps for sale.. These were designed by Mark Speath a few years back.. They don't buzz, or give off any audio interference.. I've got one in my Spy Hunter and it works great.. Tried the arcadeshop MCR adapter on the SH and a Timber and all I got was the buzzing sound :(

These also have a battery to save high scores built into it..

Or, and even cheaper way to do it.. Use the original MCR ps for the audio (if it still works) and spice in a basic switcher for the rest of the voltage.. I've had good luck with doing that in the past..

This is getting confusing.

Is there alternative option for the stereo audio amplifier board? (I only have the game boards and power supply PCB).

I just want a working boardset with no audio hum.

Thanks.

Ok, in the interest of possibly having to shot-gun, does anyone know if all of the parts on the below Audio Amplifier PCB can be easily acquired and replaced? (Just in case I come across one).

Thanks.

yes. the only parts really in question are the amplifier chips, which are mb3730's, and bob roberts as well as arcadeshop and a few other places sell them.

I was hoping there was a third party option for those who don't have an original Midway power amp.

I know there are not that many Satan's Hollow owners out there, but I was curious as to which of the two transformers shown predominate in these cabinets. And should one be preferred over the other?

Thanks.
