When you select a game from the menu, is it normal for it take 15-20 seconds for it to load? It seems WAY to long, and in fact you can hear the game start up during the boot process and then it will finally click over, and the game will show. So basically you can hear that the game has booted, and ready to play, but the video hangs at the loading screen, and then switches over to the booted game after 15-20 seconds.

Yes, it takes that long and yes you join the game in progress and it starts up in the menu. Which is GAY if you want to play two player games that you can't join in progress like League Bowling.

The cart is cool but it has some real human interface issues.

I would say that's kinda the price you pay for what's basically a glorified bootleg cart.

That sucks because the 111-1 works and acts like a normal cart, but has a crappy menu screen.

Does the 111-1 allow you to switch between carts using the NEO select button without any mods?? When does the switch become active? On my NEO (when I have four REAL carts in) I can only switch between games when the game is over. How does that work with the 111-1?

I have to admit, I feel like I didn't understand what I was getting into with this 138 in 1. I was a bit shocked to see the stupid harness connection. That wasn't disclosed before I bought it. I thought it was like the rest of the carts. I think the games play PERFECT, no problems there. But the menu system has a lot of gotchas.

Can you clarify what happens when you try to join a game in progress? Most that I have seen you simply press the player start button and it announces your joining. Does this cartridge not run the game like normal once your in the game? The only "funny" part I saw and didn't like was that it holds the menu on screen until after the Neo Geo boot has completed.

I have the 111-in-1 and while the games are fine, the menu is just a list, no ability to "turn off" the crappy games either. The 138 looks like a big improvement in that area.

I want to buy, but I am concerned about the "can't join in progress" comment.

The 111-in-1 (the big yellow cart) has no real loading time..You select a game from the menu, the neogeo reboots and then it auto-switches to a game you have. You can switch at any time by going to the channel of the multi-cart, and holding the first start button.

I think the 138 in 1 neogeo has a special jamma adapteur that interfaces between the neogeo and the mvs-jamma adapter; and only works with single-slot mvs systems..

you have to have the second coin switch hooked up for the second player
and they work with all slot boards,if you have a extra cart in the slot a jumper wire has to be put on pin 20 something to enable it

i just tried a couple of 2 player games on League Bowling on my 138-in-1 and had no problems starting in either free play mode or coin mode. the "join in progress" issue may come up with some setting on the cart that i'm currently not using, or maybe i'm just not understanding exactly what the problem is.

What type of Neo Geo PCB do you have? I noticed that when my main PCB (2 slot) was switched to Free Play, the games would start automatically. I also do not have the voice/ speech on League Bowling. (I have a 138-1)

i have a single slot MV-1A. free play mode takes it "push start button" instead of "insert coin," but it does not automatically start play when the game is booted.

i have no speech either, but that could be a stereo/non-stereo function that i can't set with the cart (this board is mono only.) then again, maybe the cart is missing the speech entirely.
