I am in the process of changing the locks on all my machines to be uniform. I have changed a bunch and they have all had screws on the back holding them on. I am wanting to change one last one and it does not have a screw and I wanted to see how others remove this style before I get too far into it. Sorry if the pics are blurry. Trying to get a pic and use the flash and it was not cooperating.

The piece sticking out is really tiny. I tried but they kept slipping off. Could not get a bite.

Could you loosen the big nut that is flush against the door all the way back and the slide it over the lock? Tough to see if there's enough room for that

I've seen one like that before, I think the cam is pressed on. If you're changing out the whole lock, just drill the center of the cam large enough for it to come off.

I really can't tell what you have there from looking at the pictures. About all I can make out is that you have a lock. Can you take a better picture?

This should work. I've put locks on like that before. I'm pretty sure there is JUST enough room to take the nut off. Or you can loosen the nut, and use a Dremel to cut off the nut. After the nut is off, it will come out of the hole pretty easy, if memory serves.

My guess is the cam was riveted on for some reason, perhaps the threads were bad? You will need to drill it off unfortunately.

I second this. The nut will slip around the cam.

I have no problem destroying a lock. I have a problem not having a proper bit to do the job, nor wanting to waste 30 minutes of my life doing it if there is a simpler way to do so.

I would say you have some tool issues if it is taking you 30 minutes to drill a lock. I did one the other day in less than 5 minutes with a cheep wood/metal bit and a 12 volt drill.

I just stated I have tool issues. I don't have a proper bit to use, hence the 30 minute remark.

the nut should slip over and come off. If you can't get it, back off the nut and cut it, take it off and remove the lock. Grind/ drill the rivit and remove the lock. Many ways to skin this cat it's just your preference.

Ah i actually enjoy the challenge of getting locks off with my corded drill and metal drill bits :D
Toughest one i ever had was a security bar padlock on the front of a machine that was the size of a softball.
