I know that overtime contacts get carboned up over time and need to be cleaned occasionally.

Has anyone used dielectric grease on the contacts?

If not, can anyone think why not too?

well two things come to mind offhand:

the first being the springy motions of the contacts would distribute the grease freely (not sure on that one, just a thought)

Second, putting a conductor on a bad solder will not make it better, and the same should be true for contacts. I use a business card myself, or drafting eraser. Good luck
