I don't have another GO7 I can easily get to, and I'm not really interested in shocking myself more, so I figured I would ask here...:D

I have a GO7 in my Dig Dug, that after I turn the game off, if I touch the back of the tube (not near the second anode, just anywhere on it), I get a nice little shock.

The Sync wire was close to the tube too and you could see it spark! (When the game was first turned on)

Is this normal? If not, what might be causing it?

The monitor has been freshly capped.

That would be in the area of the degaussing coil. Disconnect the degaussing coil and check it again. Also make sure that you hooked up your ground wire to the neck board and the monitor frame.

Well it doesn't appear to have a degaussing coil hooked up. I'll pull the monitor out tomorrow and take some pictures of everything. I'll also check all the connections.

The weird thing is, is it seems to build up a charge on the outside of the tube (while it's off).

The ground wire Dokert mentioned should take care of that.
It connects to the braided wire that contacts the black painted looking area on the tube. (aquadag)

I believe mine is missing all that. I'll pull the monitor a little latter today and verify.

I'm not trying to be a jackass, lol but don't touch the back of the tube if it hasn't been zapped.

Well.....you shouldn't get a jolt like he's got going on if the charge is being dissipated like it is supposed to be, hence the grounding wire. Static charge builds up, the ground takes it away. But without a ground it just builds up waiting for something (i.e you) to take the charge away.
Not recommended to try, but just touching the back of the tube even while the monitor is ON shouldn't "zap" ya. (unless you're fartin' with the anode or something)

It appears to be missing some stuff...

Why yes, yes it is indeed.
Missing the degauss coil setup AND the dag wire setup.
Both pretty important pieces.

Did someone do a tube swap or anything like that recently on this one?

Well there ya go.... ya'll right around the corner from each other. :)

I agree, it SHOULDN'T zap ya.... but you don't really need to touch the tube, so if it's working, who cares?

Since his stuff is gone though, I guess problem is solved, lol. Maybe somebody once did a tube swap? Somebody should have a bad tube somewhere they can send him some stuff off of.

Personally I like touching the tube, especially right after repairing one. Something about that initial surge of high voltage, it's like a rush of life from the depths of extinction. So I find that a gentle caress draws my inner self closer to it. The temptation of licking has crossed my mind, but common sense prevails on that one, we'll let Mikey try it.

Seriously... missing that dag wire setup would make it a bitch to converge or anything of that sort if ya had to. :)

Except if you're reaching in there to adjust the Horizontal Width... Your hand could easily get close enough to the tube to get zapped.
