I plan to replace all the ram chips on my Joust, StarGate, and Robotron PCBs with 4164s, and was wondering what common games that are known to have problem chips that should be replaced, and therefore Chip kits (or PCB component kits that may include other PCB parts) available for them.

I thought I saw something similar for either Millipede or Asteroids at Bob Robert's site, but the site is difficult to navigate and I can't find it now. (I already have to pick up some capacitors and regulators for these boards and really would like to get everything I need to shotgun the PCBs).

How about Galaga, and Pac-man?

Thanks.

I've seen cap kits on Ebay for Asteroids PCBs but I don't know how common a problem it is, Battlezone tends to have bad EPROM sockets but the high score-save kit fixes that, Tron has crappy ribbon cable interconnects. Looping tends to fry its TMS9995nl processor which is a colossal pain to find a replacement for, also Lethal Enforcers tends to have bad caps on its custom sound module which is a total pain in the ass to fix, which is why there's a lot on Ebay "untested" which has no sound.

There are certainly tons of games with suicide/leaking batteries, don't know what kits are available:

Omega Race
Q*Bert
Shinobi
Altered Beasts
Aurail
Golden Axe
Turbo
Robby Roto
And probably tons more...

I carry cap kits for Neo Geo boards... The audio caps are notorious for going bad.

I also carry replacement supercaps for those pesky leaking ones that eat traces on the Sega NAOMI system.

Oh, and don't forget the Galaga renew kits - all new 24/28/40/42 pin sockets and resistor packs.
