Question for you tech people about Quiz & Dragons

When I bought a Quiz & Dragons pcb years ago I had high hopes that the questions in the game would actually be about D&D itself and not typical triva questions. Boy was I bummed. So, my question to any of you guys that are good at reprogramming chips, is it possible to reprogram the chips that hold the questions to the game and put your own questions into the game in place of the original ones? I actually have the D&D triva box set from the 80's that would have been the perfect questions for this game.

Possibly, I did major rom edits to the text on my old turbo machine. Load up the mame roms for it in a hex editor and see if there is easily accessible text in there.

The questions in Quiz and Dragons are completely bizarre. They presumably had one guy who made up all the questions, one guy who spent too much time watching bad television and listening to the Grateful Dead.

The Japanese version is actually much easier, well, if you can read Japanese, as the questions are much more mainstream. There are also many other changes to the gameplay and graphics etc.

I know nothing about MAME or programming ROMs, thats why I was asking if this was possible, because it would be cool if someone would take the time to do this.

I completely agree about the questions in this game being way out in left field. I think the game itself is pretty damn cool, how you get to fight different monsters, can land on bonus spaces to heal yourself among other things. Just that the questions ruin it all. Like I said though, if someone could take the D&D Triva box set from the 80's and put them in the game in place of the shitty other questions, I for sure would buy a set of the ROMs.

The problem is that the entire market for such a modification (that would probably take an enormous amount of time) would only be a few people. It is a fairly rare board, only 13 listed on klov.

The questions would also have to be carefully chosen so the answers could be correct across rulesets, since D&D is close to being in it's 5th edition (and the majority of the playerbase has abandoned the official game for Pathfinder and various offshoots like Red Box Fantasy).

You would probably also need to modify the board to run decrypted roms, since the original appears to use the standard capcom suicide battery encryption.

Considering the board was made in the 80's, the idea of using questions from the game during that time would be ideal. Which is why I mentioned the box set of questions I have from the 80's. I would like to get my board modded for my own personal use. I love the game, just hate the way out there questions. I wish I knew how to do this myself because I would take up the task and time to do it. I figured I would just bring it up in the hopes that someone else is a big fan of the game but knows how to do the programming and might take up the task. Hell, if I had the money I would pay someone to do it, just because I would love to see this done. :D
