Hello all,

So I spent most of last night watching videos and reading the forums on the various versions of D2K boards that are currently being offered. (Stand alone DK2 or kit with Pauline roms...)

I currently have a DK cab with DK/DK Remix as well as DKJr/Jr Remix with a VL switcher running the two boards. Works great.

I am moving the DK Jr/Remix to a dedicated cab and would like to possibly add DK2 to the 'ol DK cab. (Can you have enough Donkey Kong?)

Wanting to be able to boot directly to original DK game and then be able to switch between DK/DK Remix/DK2....

Not worried about a $20-30 differnce in costs of various boards...just looking for advice on what the preferred set up would be. Also easiest for guests...really would like to boot right into original game...rather than one of the new versions

Sort of referenced above...is the practice trainer on the DK2/Pauline kit the same as the Remix trainer? I dont really care about the Pauline roms but heard glowing things about that particular trainer...

Just looking for some advice for those that have the set up... was kind of on info overload and realize the answers may be very obvious...

Thanks!

Matt

There is only one way to do it. I think it is that you plug the D2K kit into your DK boardset and the DK Remix kit into the D2K kit (I might have that backwards, but pretty sure that is the way... the info is in the manual for the DK Remix install guide).

I'm not 100% sure about the boot options, but I'd imagine that you can set it to boot as you described. Sorry, not sure about the trainer.

Thx for replying. I may have been a little too long winded in my original post... maybe try to clear it up a bit.

I know how it all hooks up... just wanting to know if you can boot directly to original DK, then hold jump 4 secs and switch to Remix, then to DK2?

Or what "order" things are actually in?

And looking for comparisons on the trainer....

Just give Joe a call at high score saves he can give you all the details you need.

The trainer is awesome.. all the other stuff, DK2, remix etc is nice to have but for me I rarely if ever play anything but DK.

The trainer is great.. you can start at level 5 if you dont have time for a full game, replay boards etc etc.

this one..

In order to get your desired effect, you set your D2K kit to boot to DK. Also set your Remix to boot to DK roms. Board will boot to DK running on the D2K kit. If you wanna play D2K, you press and hold both starts and then jump when prompted. If you wanna play Remix, you hold jump down. To get back to DK from Remix, you have to cycle to Deranged then back to the D2K kit which will boot to DK first.

Thanks for the replies... Exactly the info I was after...

Will give Joe a call as well.

I just picked up remix and d2k. My settings are configured this way, but holding p1 and p2 when running dk on the d2k board does nothing. Any ideas?
