I am nearing the end of my collection for the Dreamcast, and I was curious if the Sonic Adventure Limited Edition actually had packaging or not. From what I read in the Digital Press collector guide, it was unpackaged only a rental, but I saw one on Ebay that had a complete case with Limited Edition on the manual. Could this be a copy or is there an actual case for the game???

There are a few versions out there. There seem to be different releases because Canada also got an LE disc too. US ones have a Hollywood Video stamp on them. But there are two versions, one that allows save, and one that doesn't. There are pics of some here:

The Hollywood Video one is here:

But that doesn't have the Hollywood Video stamp on it.

Why anyone would release a game before the system came out is beyond me!

Here's one with the stamp:

Didn't Hollywood Video have the Dreamcast for rental before the system was actually released for sale? I remember them doing this with one of the systems and it would've fit the time frame of the DC.. I remember it being too expensive though, like 30 bucks or something

I remember that as well because I almost rented one. I think it was more than $30 here, though. Or actually, the rental may have been $30, but I think there was a large deposit as well (at least $100) which I think is what put me off at the time.

The DP Guide is correct, but you're misinterpreting what it says. :) It says that the game is "incomplete," meaning, the code is a pre-final, unfinished (buggy) version of the other release. They rushed it to rental outlets before the official release date.

The packaging for Sonic LE is identical to the released version, except that the instruction manual says "Limited Edition" on the cover.

OK cool, I have seen these before, now I am on the hunt for one lol. Thanks
