I've got an earlier Berzerk/Frenzy zzpu installed in my dedicated Berzerk and love it. However, my game seems to have a bug where certain sounds sometimes are cut off (robot explosions and human gettng killed). Its fixed easily enough by toggling back and forth between Berzerk to Frenzy then back to Berzerk using the P1&P2 start buttons then is fine after that...but it is a little annoying. I'm wondering if this is an issue with my game or the zzpu itself? Has anyone else experienced this issue?

Thanks,
Tom

Is Mark ever going to be back on KLOV?

While he was a bit obnixous to folks (which was entertaining at times) I wish he would come back, he did bring a lot to the community. I never had a beef with him.

Does anyone know where on the web he keeps documentation for the berzerk/frenzy zpu? I still need to install mine (finishing up my berzerk restore soon).

Install is easy as pie.

If you have the game switch cable, it goes to J6 on the VFB... other than that it just plugs in right where the ZPU did.

Edit: Looks like KillerKades answered it better. :)

mmm..in that case mebbe I'll install my extra boardset and see if that clears the bug. Btw how much are zzpu's selling for these days? does Mark still have more?

Berzerk / frenzy mark spaeth zzpu sound issue

I also have a berzerk / frenzy multi zzpu that has sound problems. When you first turn the machine on it works good for about one game sometimes more. Then the next game the explosion sounds are missing. Mainly playing bezerk. Frenzy not so much. Sometines you can switch between bezerk and frenzy to reset the cpu the sounds will come back on, but this is not a guarentee. Also, if I having a great game these sounds will cut out in the middle of the game. It's not my machine since my orginal berzerk cpu works great. There is something wrong with this Mark Spaeth and I am tring to find out if any one could give some help or heard anything about this problem.

I haven't been able to get mine to work at all. As soon as I power the game up, it blows a couple of fuses. When I replace the fuses and pop the old ZPU back in, it works fine.

Anyone else experienced this?

I have a ZZPU, use it a lot, and it works well. I don't lose sounds or blow fuses. That is with an original power supply.

Have the folks with sound issues rebuilt their sound boards?

That's good info to know...the zzpu worked great with no issues when I had it hooked up to my jammatized berzerk pcb set (spare set now that I've got a dedicated). I'll try swapping the sound board to see if it helps :)

I was afraid I might have to swap power supplies.

Ah thats sucks Dave :( if its installed correctly, perhaps its an issue with the zzpu itself? Have you tried contacting Mark to see if he'd be willing to take yours back and send a new one?

Tom

Berzerk / frenzy zzpu

The sound cutting out is not caused by the sound board or the orginal power supply. My orginal Berzerk cpu works excellent with zero problems. The sound problem is only when I use the Berzerk / Frenzy Zzpu.

Never mind I got it figured out. I had to take apart the piggy back connector
and slide the pins up further so they made better contact.

That does not sound right Dave. 100% sure installed correctly?
I've had zero issues with mine.

I miss Mark...
