question for sign makers: what translucent paint do I need?

In the top of my wife's Coke machine, there is a plastic insert with the Coke logo on it which has unfortunately faded over the past 50 years. I was told that if I got a red translucent paint used by sign makers, I could restore that part of the insert by re-painting it. I know there are some sign makers in the population here, so I thought I'd see if anyone could help me out with any info?

I've attached a pic of the machine showing the insert/sign at the top.

No sure what to do here. I'm guessing it was silk screened flat prior to vaccuum forming like they do large formed sign faces. Best bet is talk to someone who restores these machines professionally. If I had to guess (and I would not) I'd say you'll have to touch it up by spraygun using Gripflex paint or some sort of nasty silkscreening ink. What ever you do it will look wierd when you light it up and probably be patchy. You're best bet will likely be to find a nice replacement one.

Thanks for the feedback Ivan, greatly appreciated. For as long as it has taken me to score one for the wife, I definitely don't want to make it look ghetto. But at least it lights up now!
