I was looking over a few control panels I have trying to decide which ones to cannibalize for a Williams(StarGate) CP I restored.
All of these control panels are used and obviously like joysticks, buttons over time become "loose".
But "loose" is actually what I am after because from what I know it is easier to rapid fire on games like Galaga, Asteroids, Defender, etc. with loose buttons as opposed to newer, and therefore stiffer buttons.
But please correct me if anything I said above is wrong.
What I'm wondering is if there is a discernible difference in feel between buttons from different game manufacturers.
I suspect the game manufacturers all used pretty much the same standard buttons. And since Williams games like StarGate used wood control panels, the button holes in them were recessed. Therefore I have the option of taking the buttons from the metal control panels I have from Taito, Gottlieb, Midway, Nintendo, etc.
Either way any advice on what buttons to use would be appreciated.
Thanks.
