Love the game, was my grail when getting into the hobby. But now that my garage is maxxed for space, I wonder whether my lineup would improve if it got moved out to squeeze 4 or 5 games in it's place, such as berzerk, mad planets, donkey kong, food fight, black widow or whatever...I envy those that have huge gamerooms where space wouldn't makethis an issue. It also doesn't help the game is currently out of order due a motor warm up error after I finally had everything good to go...mebbe that's what has me bummed about it, heh. When it's working it's a show stopper though. Do you guys ever have 2nd thoughts about your afterburners?

Motor warm up error? Why not put it in standard upright mode via the dips then?

Should work all the same just without the Deluxe features then, thus no motor error right?
Unless you're getting a motor error for the controls...in which case, check the fuse for it, and the brushes on the motor.

There is no way I'd move this game out for ANY of those.

The game still plays, but it loses quite abit of wow factor when its reduced to a stationary game...my good friend stuffmonger is going to help me fix this, hopefully it's a limitswitch issue, but we looked inside and the cab rollers are cracked. I think I have extra wheels, but it looks like it'd be a chore to replace. Have some new brushes to throw in as well..

I'd never, swap AB for just 1 title, but when it could be 4 or 5, I start to wonder..curse these puny 2 car garages in socal!

Don't do it! The hardest part about buying/owning one of these is moving the damn thing. You don't really want to do that again, do you? I've been working on mine for a year, and I don't ever have a second thought. It's the game that everyone most wants to play (maybe because I won't let them yet).

Let's talk about your motor warming up error. Is it on the pitch, or roll motor? Does the cabinet try to move both directions during start-up? See if you get the same result with someone sitting in the seat while you turn it on. (This changes the balance and makes it easier for the motor to move the cabinet pitch up.)

I just changed the rollers in mine, and it is not that big of a job. You need to remove the post covers on both sides and loosen up the BIG nuts on the pillow-block bearings. Then you can put a hydraulic jack under one side of the cockpit section and jack it up off the rollers to change them, then do the other side. Mylstar has them in stock. After you are done, you'll need to re-do the potentiometer and limit-switch adjustment procedure for the pitch axis.

Thanks for the encouragement guys :) Stuffmonger came over yesterday, Rechecked the limit switches, and found the motor located in the rear that controls forward and back (the pitch?) didnt operate in test. Side to side worked fine. He then used the m10x90 hex bolt with washers to compress the spring and remove the rear motor. The brushes were good, but the gearbox was pretty much bone dry. Ill take it into work and ask one of our electricians to test it out. Fortunately, Takeman hooked me up last year with spare motors w/rollers + the little green rollers. we opened the packages yesterday and found the oil leaked out during shipping (it doesnt look like there was any way to avoid it and Troy wrapped them in plastic to contain it well). Does anyone know what kind of oil these gearboxes use? There doesnt appear to be any mention in the owners manual. Once i refill the gearbox and stuffmonger comes back to reinstall, fingers are crossed we'll be good to go :) One of the little green rollers was cracked to hell and Stuffmonger replaced it.

Its amazing how much junk and dust was caked inside the machine...afterburner is one dirty birdy! Ill be dismantling and cleaning her out for the next week or so.

Thanks for the heads up I'll see if Mylstar has any rollers left. I'm pretty sure he has a nos monitor plexi. I picked one up from vintagearcadesuperstore last year and it makes a huge difference. And thanks for the kind words guys, that plus takeman's parts + Stuffmonger's afterburner crisis intervention has me stepping back from the ledge ;)

I have 2 of the AB2 sitdown cabs. 1 is working perfect and the other I have as Parts. Im looking to trade or sale cause of room. I have really enjoyed these. Once you tinker around with these they are pretty easy to work on. Neither worked when I got them. Only had to switch out the 24v power supply and switch PCB's and got mine working fine. I have motors, plastic, and misc stuff. Let me know what you may need. Do not want to see these things not fully functioning..........

I really enjoy it. Finally got everything calibrated perfect about 2 months ago. Flys like a dream. Cool thing is on klov they have a pic of my machine for the AB2 sitdown pic. Unfortunate I am Getting ready to dismantle my second AB2 for parts. I am sad but do not know any one in the area who would want to put the time any money into it to save it:(

What does the "parts" machine need? If its missing a bunch of stuff then it would be hard to sell but if its complete and needs love I might know someone who would be interested. PM me with all the info on it and a price you'd let it go for.

For real. There are probably plenty of people in the bay that would drive out for it if it is complete. If I had space I'd contemplate it.

If you do part it out I would be very interested in the throttle cover if it isn't broken that's the last part I need to make mine complete. Mine has also lost motion I just haven't had the time to work on it I'm still trying to make room in the game room for some completed projects. Once I start making more space in the garage I will take the thing apart and rebuild it from the ground up. But yeah no way in hell I would ever get rid of the thing. As you can see its just boxed in with crap on all sides.
