Question. Can you run a machine with the power from a car battery?

I have used something similar to this, only 800 watts to run two pinball machines at a party. I didn't experience any problems, and the battery lasted four hours, I think.

When I had a storage unit (10x20), it had a light bulb up top with a switch by the door. I put one of those outlet inserts in it with the bulb screwed into the bottom. The plugged an extension cord into that. Turn on the switch and I had power on the cord.

Then go to Harbor Freight and get one of these:

It's great for game work. Has a hook to hang it, magnetic strips on the back to hold screws, and an outlet to plug in the game or a soldering iron or whatever. I use mine all the time...
