does anyone here have experiance with freight shipping to Canada? saw some games on ebay id like to grab but im afraid of the shipping charges and customs fees.

Odd, I was going to post later today about the same topic, except getting a game from Canada. Worst case on my end is I drive and get it. Milwaukee, WI to Regina looks to be around 18 hours, so figure I could do the whole trip it in a weekend; with fuel cost of about $350. Not that I'd really be up for driving that much, especially in December (when that game needs to be picked up), but might end up being cheaper than shipping in the long run.

I did email Michelle at NAVL, and am waiting to hear back again from her. Once I get a quote I'll let you know what she says. This is from Edmonton to Milwaukee, as opposed to Regina. If I were to pick it up the guy would drive it from Edmonton to Regina, saving me some time.

Also, if other people have experience in doing this already, I would be interested in hearing on it as well.

I contacted NAVL, and they quoted me $487.44 to ship a 400 pound game from Edmonton to Milwaukee, WI. Also, this did not include a customs broker, and I would have to go out and find one myself.

I then contacted Freight Quote and they gave me a price of $303.47, same details; except I would pick it up at a local terminal. This also did not include a customs broker price/fees, however, they have their own in-house, so I wouldn't need to worry about finding one and setting that up. It would just be an additional charge to the initial 303. The estimate they gave me was around $75 - $100, bringing the whole total to just over $400.

Again, this is shipping from Canada to the USA; but my guess is it can't be that different going USA to Canada. Just from talking to both shortly, I am probably going with Freight Quote; if I can work out a deal for the game I'm looking at. Them having their own customs broker in-house is really nice. I don't want to have to deal with figuring that out.

Also, the Freight Quote price, after everything, is going to be just about the same if I were to drive and get it. Gas would be $350, then the duty/taxes when crossing the border; and also whatever I spend of food/lodging.

Just contact Freight Quote and talk with them. So far they have been very helpful, and really good about covering details. I hope this helps a bit!

This is good info. Thanks! I have been trying to get 2 games shipped from Ontario to the US for awhile and can't seem to get much assistance. I am awaiting a quote from NAVL. Do you have contact info for Michelle? She seems to be the arcade mover guru.

cool

thanks a lot brother, thats exactly the info i needed. however ill just try buy locally, the problem here in montreal is every game is considerd "rare" from arcade machines to basic video games like super mario bros. for the nes, that game is like 15 bucks here! broken mutilated arcade games go for like 400.
