Troubleshooting the motion problem on my environmental cruis'n usa. The game did not come with any of the safety mats and the diagnostics menu shows a message that says mat is stepped on. I have a manual on the way, but knowing that the mats will probably be impossible to find, is there a way to bypass these so the motion will work without them?

According to HAPP, there was a safety mat bypass connector made, but is no longer offered. Looking at the mat connector, which wires would you connect to bypass the mats?

According to the scan you showed, you'd want to jumpper 1-2 and 3-4 on each of the mat connectors. If you look, you can see that on each mat, pins 1&2 are connected, as are 3 & 4. That's how the system knows if the mat is plugged in.

To do it up right, I'd get some appropriate mating connectors, wire pins 1-2 and 3-4 and see how it goes.

Do be careful though - those mats were provided to keep people from getting hurt. In many cases, safety features are just lawyerly overkill, but in this case, they are really kind of helpful, because it's easy for someone to walk up near the game when someone else is playing and not realize they are about to get smacked around.

I'd consider a bit of yellow tape on the floor or an area rug or something to given a nice 'duh, don't go here' zone around the game.

You are correct, using jumpers on 1-2 and 3-4 clears out the pressed mat indicator. One set of cables is missing completely, so I will just make a couple of board connectors and connect the pins at the board. As far as safety is concerned, this will not be on location anywhere. This is for my own entertainment.

Oh, I assumed that. I'm just thinking that some visual reminder would help guests not get smacked around. If you were going to put it on location, I'd recommend finding some way to replace the safety mats.

Half of the safety mat harness was missing, so I just soldered the header pins together on the safety pcb they connect to and that bypassed the safety mats. This thing has been a pain in the ass so far. I've got the safety mat problem fixed, it has emitting optos underneath around the base that are working as well. Upon power up, it says slowly turning off motors for about 5 seconds, then says: errors have occured, no motion detected, fail safe switches engaged. After that the game will boot into attract mode. Still checking all the motor drives etc. All seem to have power so far. I would ask for any help from others, but I'm starting to realize that I am on my own with this thing. The manual has schematics, but no operation flow. Does ANYONE have any operational knowledge of these things that would be willing to offer advice?
