so i'm having problems dialing in the vectors to be straight on my board and it turns out one leg on the y lin pot is broken off the back of the pot itself.

so, i need to replace it. the manual calls for a 2k pot however, the x lin pot that works is a 1k pot and the broken one is a 1k pot. can i replace it with a 1k pot so both lin pots are 1k or should i replace both lin pots with the 2k pots?

didn't know if the difference in resistance would potentially cause any problems.

well, the thing is both the 1k and 2k pots are identical except for the values. however, would having the lower resistance 1k pots potentially cause problems? that's my main concern.

Assuming the pot is being used as a pot and not a variable resistor (ie. using all 3 legs, not just 2), then it's being used as a voltage divider. Changing pot values IN THEORY should not change anything because all you are doing is creating analog math (Resistance Ratios from Pwr-Signal and Signal-Gnd).

Edit: Lower value pot will be more coarse in adjustment, higher value will be finer due to larger resistive range (And therefore finer divisive ratios).

thought i posted the fix - 1k pot worked fine. put it in, preadjusted the pot to 12:00 position and have a great straight picture.
