Question about Neo Geo 4- slot MVS and High Score Saves...

Correct me if I'm wrong but shouldn't my High Score be saved every time I cut off my machine? If it isn't, does that mean the battery is bad?
Thanks,
Kane

I'm not sure that the Neo Geo's save High Scores.

To test, go into the test menu.... if there's an option to reset the high scores.............. then it's designed to save high scores, lol.

I know that the Neo Geo's have pretty complex bookeeping information that they store with an on-board battery... but I'm not sure if they actually save High Scores, too.

The battery is probably dead. If it's the original battery it may begin (or already is) corroding the motherboard. You can replace it with another rechargeable NiCad or take out a resistor so it doesn't charge and add a lithium coin cell. There's a nice thread on it at neo-geo.com.

So after some messing with my machines (2 slot and 4 slot) and checking the batteries I have another Question. My 4-slot (which isn't keeping my high score saves) is keeping my Date and Time and keeps my setting for each cart. What gives? Also, I checked on my 2 Slot and its keeping the high scores and everything else. Both Batteries look new so no corroding thank god, but I'm trying to figure out if the battery in the 4 slot is actually dead or is something else going on cause how is it storing my game info and Date/Time.
Thanks,
Kane

Mine pretty much does the samething . I've been told if you charged the batterey for 24 hours it should keep your scores again.

I tryed this and it worked for me the first couple of times i turned on the machine . But then again it lost scores again. I have'nt looked at my batterey too see if its causing any board problems yet.
