So this is kind of a weird question but it's been bugging me...I guess on a conceptual level, when you install a multi kit on your board, are you still playing the game off your board? Or are you basically running a bootleg off a rom from then on? Obviously it has to use your original game board to work...but has the integrity of your game been compromised?

Like the Space Invaders multi for example. If I install it in my Space Invaders Deluxe and then select Balloon Bomber to play, I'm now playing someone's construct of Balloon Bomber, right? Or is it indistinguishable from the real BB since the real BB board was basically the same as the SI board but with a few changes that the multi covers?

And if I then choose to play SI Deluxe, am I playing the exact same game I was before I installed the kit and it just added the high score save? Or am I now playing the kit's version of SID?

Do Twin Galaxies/"pro" players etc accept cabinets with multi/hss kits installed for world records and so forth?

I know I'm probably over thinking this. I have the SW/ESB kit from vector labs and love it, and the DK/Donkey Kong II kit and love it (except the bewildering requirement of only being able to switch games when in freeplay) and have been eyeing the space invaders, multipede, and pengo kits.

TG accepts D2K (which by default is a multi/high score save kit), but you can't submit a DK score if you have the D2K kit on your PCB. I don't know about the others, but the D2K kit has the full DK code on it, plus the D2K. It was the easiest way for him to do it, rather than try and patch whatever revision might be on your own PCB. This way, they all work the same.

So is the original DK board doing anything at that point?

I installed the DKII kit and I did notice a difference in the paterns of the levels of my DK. I then switched the amount of guys to startout with back to the original setting, I then noticed the paterns on the levels back to what they should be. Not sure if this was just my mind playing tricks on me or if the game was playing tricks with my mind?........
