Sorry for asking a dumb question. New to all of this and especially monitors. Just need some help if all possible. I got a megatouch upright. The monitor is bad in it. I was going to replace it with another monitor i have. My question is, was about to remove the bad monitor and saw a sticker on the back of the monitor that says "when replacing this monitor only use voltage free type monitors. Do not use monitors that require a transformer". Well my question is how do you know what type of monitor to use. And I thought almost all monitors require a transformer in most games. Can you use a monitor that used a transformer and not have the transformer hooked up. If so, it won't do anything to the main board or the chassis will it.

Thanks in advance

Pretty sure bottom line is that monitors that need an isolation transformer need one to work without being damaged. Monitors that do not require an iso can still work fine even when hooked to an iso.

Here is my best guess about your machine. My guess is that your machine is not wired with an iso which is probably why it has the tag to warn you that if you put a monitor in it that requires an iso you will likely damage that monitor. That is just my best guess and I'm not 100% on it. A clue would be to look at the power coming into the cab and see if it runs through an iso. Maybe also look at the monitor from the cab and see if it looks like it has an iso built onto the monitor.

BTW if the cab is not originally wired with an iso one can be added.

No iso

Install an iso.. Or find a newer monitor that doesn't require an iso.. Like wells monitors k72... (k7203 can be plugged into a wall)
