Ok..so I am going to be putting an LCD in my cocktail cab. Since I have never done this before I have a couple of "newbie" questions (sorry):

Can I just buy a 19" LCD off of Craigslist, remove the cover, and put it in the cab? I bought an LCD bracket thingy from Steve at Arcadeshop so the LCD will "fit" like a standard 19" arcade monitor. I wasn't sure if I had to buy an "arcade" LCD or if any old LCD would work? Any suggestions?

Second, is there any special "grounding" that needs to be done when you install an LCD tube?

Thanks for the help everyone. I appreciate it!

Take it easy!

Can I just buy a 19" LCD off of Craigslist

what's his name just bought a 32" LCD off of Craigs List for $150.00

at some point he noticed it had a dark spot on the screen a bit off center that he said it looks like someone had punched it, ruining it for regular television viewing but looks fine for a MAME project

so, beware buying what might seem to be a "good deal"
you dont want to end up with someone else's problem

if you are going to use a pcb with a vga output then you will have no problem.

if you plan on using a board that would normally output to an arcade monitor you will need a converter board to change the rgb signal to vga.

Cool..

The board I have has vga..so I knew I wouldn't have too much of a problem there..

Am I better off just leaving the monitor encased in its plastic cover? or is it safe to remove that and install it like you would a regular arcade monitor?

Thanks for all the help so far...I appreciate it guys!
