Question about connector numbering (J20, Asteroids Deluxe)

For Asteroids Deluxe main PCB, can someone decode the J20 numbering? The schematic has strange entries like "J20 X", "J20 2 B" as well as normal ones like "J20 21".

J20 21 clearly means pin 21, but how do you count the pins? Where is 1 and how does the numbering handle both sides of the PCB?

Are things like "J20 X" just symbolic info and you should, through some other source, know that X is actually PIN something or other?

Thanks

If you look really close on the face of the connector, It will usually have at least a "1" on it. Some times it will have a "1" and the highest number on the other end say "20" for example.

Maybe this will answer some of your questions:

X is the letter
2 B is two pins, number 2 and letter B

On the PCB itself, the parts side has the letters A and Z on the board. On the parts side it may have numbers. But 1 is at the same end with A and 22 is on the same end as Z.

HTH!
