Quest for Grail ends in sadness. Xenon

Just got an offer from a local Pin guy to buy the Xenon from me. ($100) He said he would be able to restore it and sell it back to me at a reasonable price.

I am hoping I can get him to come look at it first, and maybe we can work something out.

Hes probably laughing at the fact that he actually got someone to pay for that. :( What a waste of good machines...

Glad that some people are willing to take time to go after machines like these , even if it is just for parts. For 150 you will come out ok. Those machines remind me of a certain barn find awhile back.

hehe...exactly what I was thinking. Those are in better condition than some we snagged from the barn. At least you didn't get dead cats, rats and birds with yours :D

I pulled up to Dave's around 9:30 last night and saw those machines. There are alot of usable parts there. The owl eye coin door is definately usable with a little work. The control panel could be saved, the bezel, marquee, monitor and maybe a few other parts. The Xenon has a ton of parts with a ton of rust, but Dave was pretty sure some of it was salvagable so it's all good. - Barry

What?! Hes parting them out! Shouldnt you be bitching and moaning and crying and say how much we all suck because they are perfectly restorable machines?

Thanks, at least you are predictable if nothing else. Why would i expect any other response from you ? Does that Asteroids look perfectly restorable ? Guess that is part of your problem , you cant seem to tell the difference between what games should be parted and what ones shouldn't . Haven't you learned anything yet ?

I would have thought you would have known exaggeration when you see it. My point is that youre usually always complaining and insulting those who part out games and it surprised me that you actually didnt this time.

I am in for $150 total with gas and trailer and all.

All of the circuit boards are present in both games. The monitor in the Asteroids, may actually be working. The bezel and marquee on the Asteroids are both very nice. The Control Panel and Owl Coin Door are both restorable.

Xenon, it is hard to tell right now. I will now more when I get the head separated. The boards don't look too bad from what I have seen of them. The playfield has a lot of usable parts that are not all crustified to shit.

It should prove to be interesting.

You sure that asteroids isn't restorable does it have wood rot, burnt, shattered parts what?!

Not when the cabinet is effin rotten, swollen, and has holes in the side. How many times do I need to spell that part out for some of you ? It's the games with solid cabs that I complain about... for the 10 millionth time...

I might of missed what was going on here, but Archy here seems like he knows what he's talking about.

Reminds me of my Space Wars. There are plenty of good parts there that will bring other machines back to life. I would love to kick the guy who left those outside in the nut sack!!!

I think everyone would!

Bondo the hell outta that cab!!! Ta-da!!! Problem solved! =P

As nasty as that Xenon looks, and as rough as that playfield might be underneat, that would probably still be the perfect candidate for a playfield swap. The harness should clean up. New bulb sockets, replate or polish what's rough, replace switches, etc..

The Asteroids is swollen to almost 2" thick in places and the cab is rotten in other places. I will put it through it's testing paces in the next few days, prior to taking a chainsaw to the cab.

The Xenon is a different story. A collector from down around Ken Layton's area thinks that we can save her. I am going to try and get him some more in-depth pics, and see what he thinks.

Wow that would be amazing if someone can bring back that:eek:

Put this in the Xenon and no one will notice the other crappy parts.

Kidding, but after I install my new playfield, I will have an original playfield for sale...
