In preping for reproing the Quantum wiring harness, I put this one page document together (linked below) which details exactly what will (and will not) be repro'ed. If anyone has any comments or info to add or accuracy updates, or anything else, please let me know. If you can supply any of the missing tag numbers, that would be appreciated too (I promise to add submitted missing tag numbers quickly so you won't hear me say "someone already sent it", if it's not there, I didn't get it yet). All feedback, even if negative, is welcome (I don't want to spend a lot of money doing this if there is something that could be done to make it better).

I have thought about the logistics of making the harness. If this falls through (and I hope it doesn't!) and no one else will take it on, I may. Just gotta build a jig, right? heh

That said, would there be enough demand for me to make the
-coin door harness
-utility panel harness
-light fixture harness?

I figure if you find a utility panel, it probably still has the wiring attached, same with the light fixture. I 'could' reproduce the wood light fixture assy and wiring, if it's really needed.

The coin door though.. I know those get hacked. If there's a need for that, I'm sure I could do it. Good luck!

I don't think this is falling through. Looks like I've acquired the pieces I need.

My though exactly on the utility panel, light fixture, on-off switch and even the coin door, i.e., wires are very often still attached. Plus, they are common to other Atari games, so they are not difficult to find. I found the light fixture and coin door on some raster games. Can't get the tag numbers for the on-off switch yet. Didn't find the utility panel, but only looked at two raster manuals.

Good luck and sorry again that I couldn't be of more help. Short of buying one since I won't need one, I'll help in any way I can. If you think one of those pieces needs made or need any detailed reference info from my cabinet, just let me know.

Also, anyone considering building a replica Quantum cabinet should see if they can get in on Etienne's repro decal order. I think he's still taking orders. If I need to document exactly which decals belong in the game, I can. In the grand scheme of building or restoring the game, those decals are a drop in the bucket, but seem like an important detail.

Also jumping on the (very) preliminary interest train.

I'd also agree that the coin door/utility/light harnesses probably aren't as needed as the main and control panel. Probably wouldn't be bad, though, to have it in the "back up"; in case they need to be run.

Only thing my Quantum needs is a harness.. I was considereing modding a space duel harness.. But this is a much better option for me...

I may be interested, it depends on the price. If its the last thing i needed i would just build one myself.

I'm all about DIY myself, but keep in mind if you want to use factory correct colors (for matching the schematic), you'll either be buying at a higher price per foot from Bay Area, or buy bulk and have a lot leftover. I think that's the big benefit to paying someone for a harness - sourcing the wire, not paying for leftovers, all the crimping, etc.

Definitely,y down for a main and cp harness. The others I can probably use what's in the space duel I am using,

I am fully aware what the job entails, but it still comes down to money for me. Personally i dont really care about OEM wire color, although it can be usefull in troubleshooting and such, it is not nessecary for me to play the game. I will probablly never sell my Quantum once i get it all put together, and if i do, i would never ask a premiuim price for it. With that said, i hope these do get made for those that want them, but i will have to evaluate the cost/time/piece of mind of having OEM wire color.

Per his information, the CP harness is not part of this project. If there will be another run of those, someone else will have to step up. I think Dokert may have indicated that he is not interested in running those again.

I am probably interested in the repro main harness, although I have a hacked original.

I did not know or realize that Dokert was not planning on doing anymore Quantum control panel harnesses. I also thought that everyone that wanted or needed one would have got one of those already. If there is call, I would be willing to do the CP harnesses as a separate run after I get the main done.

I'd definitely be down for the CP harness too.
