Quantum Restoration Rabbit hole…

Well, this is me just bumping it up. Packages are coming in the mail. Waiting on repro Harness from Kenny. Still haven't purchased a Marquee. Dezbaz's repro PCBs have arrived. Haven't looked at the component list yet. Inquired as to an EMI cage to a few stale threads; no dice. BDP coming and Takeman repro CRT brackets in the mail. Arcade Jason FPGA arrived with a bunch of fuses. Used a Redirect service to ship into Canada and it was shockingly expensive. Blow me down....

Watched Arcade Jason's video on re-winding a horn to be vector; doable, but a bit tedious. Doing this restore has me thinking of how many other project cabs I have....

FYI, an EMI cage is not required for any technical reason. It basically just holds the game board, however you can mount it to the side of the cab, like many other Atari games, in the wood rails.

And it's definitely not needed if you're going to run one of Jason's emulation boards, as they're a lot smaller and can be mounted anywhere.

wow. really. thanks for the info. I would have never figured. you should have probably proofread your post before you posted, and deleted it.

But as I was saying, this is a Restore, so as many original parts that I can get to restore it, the better. I have already complained about the profiteering of those holding onto OG Quantum boards. enough said. Snarky bullcrap posts aren't helpful, so a big Canadian apology to all who might be slightly offended by my snarkiness. IMO, 80's Vectors are Hella-cool. This one will live again....

Huh? I did not delete any post.

If you wanted a repro board (one of the 1:1 repros of the original, like this one), you should be able to get one now for less than $1400. But they'll be at least $1000. And a non-repro original will run you more than that, probably in the $1300-1500 range.

Nobody is hoarding. The repros cost upwards of $500-600 just in parts alone, if you want to build one yourself. Then 30+ hours of labor to assemble. Then you have to test them, and be able to find and fix anything that you screwed up (which is usually the case). So that puts most people over $1000 if they're going to sell one, because nobody's time is free.

Thank you for that. Is there anything else you wish to add?
