I'm trying to decide if I should do a Quantum. Of the unique/htf parts this is what im under the impression is available:

Side/front art - phoenixarcade, 2nd run in interest check stage
Pcb - 2nd run in ordering stage
Cpo - done by p1001 and sold out
Harness - coming from joemagiera
Cp harness - coming from joemagiera
Bezel - made to order by joeycuda
Marquee - seconds and misprints from joemagiera
Marquee brackets - in stock from takeman
Cp - interest check stage, takeman
Front glass retainer - in stock from takeman
Speaker grill - in stock from takeman
Monitor plex shield - ???
Parts kits - interest check in progress by Riptor
Cabinet - dptwiz, ou flight, or spyridon
Amplifone monitor - repro boards/parts kits from dezbaz, roll your own

speaker grills - takeman
Cabinet - Dptwiz

:D

Monitor Shield
Smoked Glass
Atari Cones and LED switches
Power Brick
Complete wiring harness
CP wiring harness
Extension cable for K6100 if Amp is not used
Speakers
Light fixture
Coin Door
Coin Box

I am also putting one together, still assembling the parts. I really like this game and would really love to get it working someday.

control panel was repro'd be Takeman and there's an interest thread up for more. He often sold the lower glass bezel retainer with it.

I think thisoldgame/Rich could get the correct dark tint glass bezel made.

The harnesses have never been repro'd, just the control panel portion. Sounds like the full harness is in the works.

Light fixture assy, power brick, coin box, coin door could come from a Gravitar/BW/SD cabinet.

Speakers - Bob Roberts sells nice replacements that look correct

6100 vs Amplifone - I dunno on this, but I will add that the original Amplifone in Quantum was the standard res tube, not the med res tube found in SW and Major Havoc.

Etienne has the decals for the game and I posted a list of what you'd need here:

@dptwiz- takeman did the cp, too, right?

@rj - when you say monitor shield you mean the cardboard shroud? The rest of the parts you listed are more widely available being common to other titles, mainly worried about the cpo, marquee, and metal kit I think.

The lower bezel bracket/monitor shield is a funky piece that goes at the bottom of the glass bezel and above the control panel. It's unique to Quantum and you'd need to get it from Takeman. You can see it in this pic (not mine, found thru google image search):

The marquee brackets and speaker grilles are found on Gravitar, etc..

Joe Magiera repro'd the marquee years ago, no idea if any left. I'd be surprised if there isn't demand enough for Rich or Darin to make these.

Troy states here that there might be a rerun of CPOs if the demand is there:

I got a "second" Quantum marquee from Joe a few months ago. It was left over from his original run. One of the letters was a little light. I did not mind, as there is no other source for this right now. I think he has more, not sure if he is interested in selling those. You'd have to ask.

There is also the trackball assembly. Quantum uses the 3" Atari/Happ "midi" track ball unit.

The last thread I saw on the trackball indicated that this was the one to get:

Can anyone confirm that this is the right one?

Does anyone know where you get the fasteners for the speaker grills? The person who had my Quantum cab previously cut off the tops of the fasteners in order to use the grills in a repro cabinet. Anyone know where to get these?

Thanks.

I need to take a look at that this week/weekend. I will be building some repro cabinets (Quantum being one) and restoring a SW cockpit, all of which will need those. I know you can use hex button head screws and t-nuts, but I'd rather find the exact size rivet, get the bluing solution from Eastwood Company, and make it look original. I have a cheapo HF digital caliper, so can get exact dims. I'll make a post when I get the info and figure out a source.

A couple other items:

1) There were also T hex type threaded fasteners inside the marquee box which the screws for the marquee brackets screwed into. They were "imbedded" into the wood. I noticed on mine that they had been chipped out/removed. Anyone know where to get these? They used these in other Atari cabinets as well.

2) What kind of screws did the marquee brackets use?

3) What kind of screws were used for the trackball assembly?

Thanks.

About the monitor question, a quote from MrBill on CoSP :

"I will be replacing the 6100 monitor with an Amplifone as soon as it is ready. It turns out that the Quantum has no pincushion adjustments as it was made to work with Amplifones. I would have to add it and those mods are out there. I'll keep the 6100 as a spare - it's a beautiful monitor but needs some pincushion correction to look right on Quantum - right now it bows a little and this is characteristic of the 6100."

IE : 6100 is a no-go without pincushion correction.

AFAIK, nobody has made the promised pincushion correction mini PCBs yet. Clay Cowgill made a run over a decade ago, then completed a new design and samples, and never released them. This was 2 years ago... Probably got too busy making crappy raster multiboards :D

I can document all that hardware and source it. Probably post it next week.

Now that dezbaz chimed in it reminds me that I could use my 6100 tube with his repros to do this right.

Excellent... I think if fizgig will sell me a cpo and metal kit that I will put my dog in this fight. :D
