Quantum cabs now available.. and more!

You never know...

Sign me up if it's ever going to happen, but as much as I'd like to see the really uncommon boards reproduced, I have to wonder if it's feasible/possible. An unpopulated PCB is one thing, but a fully populated, assembled, tested board is another. That's some man hours..

it's absolutely possible. The feasible part comes in when you look at rarity/availability. It would cost about the same amount to make a Quantum board, as it would a space duel board. What do space duel boards sell for? not much!

I agree with you on that, but what would it actually cost to build and test a board, offer some sort of DOA/guarantee VS price of an original. Now, looking at it that way, there are definitely few that are appealing and Quantum and Major Havoc would qualify, but how many would sell? How many would be made and then sat on? Is it something that could be ran and built 20 at a time, when preorders demand it? I hope to see it happen, or I'll likely only play Quantum thru MAME...

that thread is quite the mess there. I asked for films, as i was going to attempt to have boards ran off. I did not receive any films, so i had to go a different direction with it. I had two Gravitar boards, same rev, and one was stripped of parts, and scanned. I haven't checked the progress on the outcome, i just wasn't in a hurry for it. Found plenty of pokey chips for the project, etc. the Vector cards that let you hook up a pc, i don't think those are all the way done and gone.

How would rank the boards that could justify a reproduction, based on what would sell? Quantum, MH, then Star Wars?

Give this whole Quantum thing a couple more months and you'll see plenty of boards, parts, games etc. come out of nowhere and there won't be any need to reproduce these boards. It took me all of three phone calls and an hour in one day to find a board at nowhere near a thousand bucks.
