Need some unbiased opinions on the quality of the work for the product in the pictures below.

Also, would You buy this product if you had not seen the pictures?

It is an aftermarket upgrade.

Please be more specific on what this upgrade kit is.....

I dont like how its not flush could have done a better job soldering .Well if I put it in my board and it worked I guess I wouldnt care to much.

IMHO, if it works, I could give a rats a$$ what it looks like. Its going to be in a cabinet anyway. The only thing that looks a bit off is the crooked socket.

YMMV.

Amen to that. The only thing I think that looks familiar is that it looks like a Spaeth type board. Is there some point coming out of this Dokert?

I will be more specific when I have enough opinions. I think the cost was around $35 shipped IIRC.

I think the only opinions you will get is, if it works and it is worth $35 then people will buy it.

As for the work on it, it is better than I could do, so it looks great. :D

It all looks ok other than the offset socket which looks like it would work but brings up the question of quality control where it's assembled. That one might work ok but what about the next 4 or 5 down the line??

and if it is Marks board, the little flame war is getting really old.

Why be such a drama queen about it? Don't you think you'll get more informed opinions if people actually know what they're talking about?

Looks like a 5101 RAM to NVRAM adapter or something. So the socket isn't flush with the board. Big deal.

Would I buy one if I needed it even after seeing this post? Yes. Looks like a Spaeth product to me. I'm going to guess this is a petty attempt to make Mark look bad but I could be wrong... Maybe we'll get enough "quality opinions" to find out...

Still dont know what it is. Does not look like much effort was put into it. Looks like the sides of the board were just snapped off. I looks like it was made a grade school classroom. How could you trust the quality, when it appears it was thrown together.:confused::confused:

It doesn't matter what it is, or who makes it.

This doesn't matter either.

The question is... Does this look like a "Quality" product to you, and would you spend your hard earned money on it?

Sure it matters. Let's just be honest about it and say you're trying to make Mark look bad. We all know it's Mark's board.

Sure Mark could have soldered the socket in straighter or cleaned the flux from the bottom of the board but if the thing works and I needed one I would buy one. I answered your question you just chose to not like the answer.

As far as "quality" is concerned I would put more stock in the quality of the design and implemenation of said design than the straightness of the socket or appearance of flux on the board.

Quality assembly: no
Quality design: sure (even though I don't know what the hell the thing is)
Would I buy one if I needed it: Hell yes.

The point is that the appearance of the product doesn't make a damn bit of difference in the operation of the product. I'm not saying I wouldn't have tried to make it look a little nicer but I'm not going to sit here and break Mark's balls over some flux and a crooked socket when there's only a couple of people in the hobby who do the shit he does. There are a lot who like to talk about it but few who actually do it.

EDIT: Not sure how my quote broke...

If it works... yes... it's fine for me and I'd pay the $35.00. If it didn't work, I am sure the seller would replace it with one that did...

As for DJW90...

...and I say this with as much respect as I can muster...

Stop being an asshole. We all know it's a Speath product... we all know YOU know it's a Spaeth product, either come out and say something directly to the guy or STFU because this "kids game" you're playing with him is fucking ridiculous.

Thank you.

Frizz, How do I know what it is? Its not mine, all I have seen are the pictures, no one has told me what it is???:confused::confused::confused: Does not matter to me who made it, I would not purchase it because of the fact that it looks like it was thrown together. Thats my opinion. You have a right to yours!!

This is all that I am looking for. Like I said, it doesn't matter what it is, or who makes it. I have asked for "unbiased opinions", because my opinion is very biased. I want to see where people stand, as to what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in a product of the nature of the one in the pictures.
