i have a working qix sound/data board that crackles and pops with the sound...all the sound effects are playing fine but it sounds like i'm making popcorn at the same time...

i think one of the sound amps is dead....i tap on the right one and can hear it thru the speakers...the left one i tap on and nothing..

Before ordering another amp.. Check the headers on the sound board. They typically will crack over and you will loose connection. A nice hot iron with some real lead base solder should fix your issue..

headers were cracked but reflowing did not fix the issue...i have 2 sound amps coming in from riptor, we will see if that's it....thx for the suggestion though.

hit the volume pots with contact cleaner to no avail...then replaced it to no avail....its driving me crazy...swapped out all the socketed chips also and nothing...

Replaced all caps around amps but the 2 I didn't have. Volume pot and r25 work correctly....all sound works correctly except the crackle and pop annoyance

Crackle popping noise.. Do you think it might just be oxidation on the header pins?
sounds like there a cap that is shorted out or an open connection that causing issues..
