I have found a Qix cabinet that was home to a 1943. Was wondering the availability of parts and ballpark price to "phoenix" a Qix?

Seems like the hardest part would be the boardset due to being universal for other Taito games... How about the cp and bezel???

The cp and bezel come up a lot more than a working boardset. I have everything except a working rom board for mine. I think the bezel is on ebay for a bin of $40 plus shipping and I thought klov member djdns had a control panel.

You can always run Mame or the Arcadeshop board in it until you find an original PCB.

It does play great in MAME. I run it on a vert setup and when you hear the sound through a subwoofer, you can't help but think that's what the developers wanted but Taito cheaped out. The sounds in this game seem simple at first, but they're amazing with a lot of bass.

I have an almost-working Qix that I'd like to transform into a Zoo Keeper. I'm not sure when I'll make some progress on that, but eventually I'll have the Qix control panel, bezel and marquee for sale. I'm not sure about the boards. I have an untested ZK board set that I have yet to try (and I still don't know why the Qix is not working as is), so it's possible I could have a Qix board set for sale eventually, also.

Finding the parts in good condition is the key. Working boardsets seem to be the big issue. I have a non working Qix in excellent physical shape and it's 100% complete, but the boardset is junk. A local SMAC member has a Qix turned into a 60-1 which has Qix on it and it works very well. I may end up doing this to mine since it will be more reliable and much easier to then find a working boardset. - Barry

I am doing the same thing with my Qix....

From what I have heard, Qix boards are notorious for having battery acid damage. They also have ribbon cable issues, IIRC.

Any idea where you can buy new ribbon cables that will work with Qix/ZK boards? I think there are 2 or 3 short ones and one really long one.

I might just pick up the cab and throw it in storage. Here's what I've found so far: bezel, marquee, and the panel...So far it's just the boardset and the wiring harness....

I know Qix boardsets are prone to acid damage and I'm familiar with fixing through my history of Gottlieb pins but is there any hard to find components on the board itself?

I would throw a 60-1 in it . I never even played Qix untill I got my 60-1 and I love it .What a great game .seems so simple but turns out to be challenging. You spend 110 on a board and get 59 other games .Why not ? Just my 2 cents .PEACE!!!!
