How close to the original is the 60 in 1? I have been playing Qix on a coouple of other people's multicades and I have decided I want to add this one but I am not sure I want to dedicate an entire cab to it.

Also, I have read somewhere that individual games can be disabled on the 60 in 1. Can I disable all but one game and have it play normally instead of going back to the horrible 60 in 1 attract screen?

The Qix on my 48 in 1 (which I assume is the same as the 60 in 1) is very true to the original. I couldn't tell you of asny differences and I did play the gamne BITD a bit. You can disable games, but I have never disabled all but 1 so I don't know whether or not that will bypass the menu if you do.

I have an original Qix. When people 1st come in to the Arcade they kind of ignore it. But once they try the game they find out very quickly how addicting it can be. My kids who are 10, 13, and 16 love the game and have high score competitions weekly.

Buy an original, it's the best way to play this game. Good luck,

Braido...

If you disable all but 1 game on the multi board, the game acts as a dedicated game with no menu, super fast boot time, attract screen for the game is active, attract sounds for the game run, etc.

I'm running a dedicated fast Ms Pac in the 60/1 cab tonight, the wife is having a moms n' toddlers pizza party at the house tonight while I'm at work and didn't want to be bothered with kids and moms trying to figure out the game menu.

I have a dedicated and I can definitly tell the difference in the multi and real hardware. Although it is one of the better emulated games. The sound is very close.

I always wondered this myself, I was looking at both an original machine and a multicade but I was worried if there was a difference.

Go with the original. It's worth it all the way. The menu get @%$# annoying.

Sooo... basically you didn't answer his question at all

Read 3 posts up...if Qix is the only game enabled then there is no menu.

Oh, I missed that. I have the 48 in 1 and I still would get the original. It has less glitches and and why get a whole multi-game board to play just one game? and why mess up another game to play it? I'm sorry if I'm missed something before posting this.

I played Qix on a friend's multi board last week. Gameplay seemed decent. I thought the sound was pretty weak (although not nearly as bad as some of the other atrocities on that board). A real Qix sounds a hell of a lot cooler. If you think the sound is good on that multi then you are clearly basing that off fuzzy 25+ year old memories....

Qix is not a game I ever played BITD. However I do like puzzle games and I consider this to be a really good one. It will not be in a dedicated cabinet. I am thinking I will install it as a secondary board in another cab. i was hoping to put it in a Polaris cab but Polaris only has one button so I am still weighing my options.

Im going to give it a 8/10 on the multi board. One of the better playing games on the multi. Unless you have aa dedicated sitting next to it, I dont think you will see the difference.

Sounds fun.

I LOVE Qix. When I've played one on someone's 40-1, pfft when it comes to the other games.

Qix rules, and yes, it is very addictive.

Yes, this is my problem. I have become somewhat addicted to the game.

What about Super Qix? How comparable to Qix is it?

Totally pants! I hate Super Qix, but LOVE Qix, my favourite game ever! Super Qix is so disappointing.

All the elements that make Qix such a cool game are gone - the ominous sounds are replaced by standard blippy ones, including twee tunes. The abstractness (is that a word?!) is also completely gone. The Qix is now a gremlin, and as you claim areas a picture is revealed.

Original Qix is like a totally abstract and ominous cyberworld, while Super Qix is like a kids cartoon!

Anyone have an opinion about the Space Invaders / Qix combo machine? They have these at GameWorks.

Not even comparable I never played it though.. but I watched the vid, and looks much worse than the original.
The original is one of my favorite games.

Now, I don't know this first hand, but a guy who bought a 48-in-1 off me a couple years ago called me and asked me if there was a setting to turn off the menu. I told him I thought that if you disable all games except one it would bypass the menu. He called me back an hour later and said he disabled all games except Ms. Pac Man and that the menu pops up with ONLY Ms. Pac Man. He said that once he dropped in to Ms. Pac Man it stayed in the game, but at power up, it DID go to the menu. He wanted to know if there was a way past that. I told him I doubted it.

It was a 48-in-1 early "A" model... sold to him prior to 60-in-1's being available.

Again... I have no first hand knowledge of this as I never disabled all games save for one.
