I've been playing Qix on my son's 60 - 1 lately. It is a very cool and tough game. I remember playing it on a gameboy once, years ago. But never saw it in an arcade? My best score is around 69,000. But I still don't understand the scoring of the game very well. Anybody out there love or hate the game? I like it and find it challenging....but havn't fallen in love with it yet....

What is the difference between Qix and Super Qix?

Never played Super Qix, so I can't answer your question.

I LOVE Qix. Had a nice one, then sold it to another KLOV member. Kinda miss it sometimes. It's one of those games that is elegant in it's simplicity, but brutally challenging.

Love it. Didn't really play it much in arcades because I always went for the space/shooting games. Started playing again in MAME and got addicted. Great game, but for a home gameroom I think only the hardcore will remember or play it.

I like it, but my wife & son both play it a lot more than I do. Enough that I'd grab a dedicated if I saw one for the right price locally.

Hardcore member here.

What I remember most about Qix was that one day I went to the arcade and it was in Crazy Climber's spot. Could not believe they traded CC for Qix.

I like Qix now though.

I enjoy Qix a lot as well. I have only played Super Qix in MAME but it isn't as good and has really goofy graphics. It is like the company said "games without a theme don't sell, slap some ogres on it and call it good!"

I have a QIX and I am probably gonna get rid of it. I was pretty addicted to it when I got it but am having a very hard time getting motivated to play it all lately. Maybe it's cause I do the same pattern every time I play that it's boring the heck out of me.

It's an interesting game but not one I would want to own.

Back in the glory days when the arcade was packed and there were lines for the games this was one I could always find available and played instead of waiting in line.

it seems so simple, but those vector line jump around so much...you asked about the scoring, not exactly sure how it works, but you get more points when you use the slow-draw button instead of the fast one

Some attract sounds lend immediate credence to the idea of having an "arcade" wherever you hear them. Qix's sounds qualify; I think they're great.

I ran into Qix only once in the wild BIID. It was around 1990, and the game supplier to the local Dream Machine had dug one out of storage from somewhere and stuck it amongst all of the shiny new games, towards the back. It was in decent shape. But I never saw anyone play it and, after about a month, it disappeared forever.

Qix is a great game but was a terrible money maker when it came out. Super Qix is mud...

I played it a lot back in the day and especially remember being awed by the sounds of the game, as others in this thread have posted. The sound of that game seemed to blow all the other games away at that point in time. When I close my eyes and try to imagine what the arcades of old sounded like, one of the first sounds I hear in my head are those that come from a game of Qix. I never really thought of owning one b/c it seems like the game play would get old fast. I still play it from time to time on the 60 n 1. I always try to build a box to capture the spiral in.

This must have been the Klax of the early 80s.

I love the game, in MAME, never played it in the wild. I've collected all the parts, minus the bezel, to scratch build one. If anyone has a nice bezel for sale......PM ME
