I have a Qix cocktail that I have swapped out some boards and memory to get it working again. However, the Qix is now in "upright" mode only. 2 players only play on one side, the screen never flips. The manual mentions nothing of this, and Mame shows in test menu settings that there is a "table mode" right after "attract sound". Mine has the "attract sound", but no table mode in the setup menu. Did the really make an upright only code version? Is my only recourse to get another ROM set?

Apparently "some games" have the extra line. Not sure if the boards are the same and they just had different code, or if the boards are different - meaning there was an Upright only version, and an Upright-or-Cocktail version. I know Defender had different boards - one for Upright only, and another that could be used in either.

Here's the service bulletin where it talks about "some games", in case you haven't seen it...

Hmmm.... It would be nice to know if I needed to get a different board or a different ROM set. Interesting.

Did the board set you bought from me arrive yet?

Yes it had a bunch of bad video RAM. I changed out the video RAM and I currently have a working game.
