While i`m at it , and just home from night shift , i`ll chuck another post in while you guys are wakin up , Qix , i love this game , dramatic sounds , great game play , it gets very intense . Back then designers can make a game with just lines and colors !!!!! . honestly , Qix highlights the epitomy of skill and drama , i just cannot see todays designers getting close to making something like this game ,, games today have to look real life , if you ask me , there is no comparison between the 2 , the old games made the ultimate use of basic colors , and very exciting game play , todays games bore the shit out of me , i cannot play them , , Qix gets so exciting , a mate of mine that doesn`t really play old arcade games , he was a pinball head ,, he cannot stop comin around here and asking to fire up QIX , love it to bits !!! .

You bring up a topic that's been exhausted but still is so relevant. Designers back then were also programmers (actually it was the other way around). The limitations in program byte size forced them to do with very little, and just look at the amazing games which were created. Today's games are cosmetics, that's about it..... Hope for future does come in glimmers.... take a look at Angry Birds. Simple game, graphics are cartoony and yet its been out almost two years and still gets people addicted to its game play. Simple and addicting is where game designers should focus their efforts and stop relying on 3d graphics and aesthetics all the time.

I have qix on my mame cab, fun game but I suck at it.... Lol

I agree with the above statement with programmers/designers. A Lot of my friends can't understand how I can play these old games so much. I respond, because they are actually good!

No need to apologize....It's a great topic, I was just saying a 'popular' one. QIX is a an awesome game that kicks my ass every time but as you said, it's a simple design that offers some addicting game play.

Yer thanks dude , thats like most Vector games , they pushed new tech , and made awesome game play from ultra limited cutting tech at the time . moral is , what ever you have , make the most of it .
