Has any located a good source for a color match for a Qbert cabinet side (Yellow/Gold)? I I did a quick search but I did not find anything.

Thanks

I used sherman williams safety yellow on mine and it is damn close.

a color called 'slicker' from glidden is much much closer. A good guide for color is the yellow in the sideart, it's a damn near match to the yellow paint on the cabinet itself.

I can get you the code off of my custom can later today...Mine looks perfect to me but who knows...

Shouldnt we begin the latex vs. oil banter begin at this point?

hehe.. that is the usual pattern of things isn't it

Safety yellow and qbert yellow are close for sure, both strong yellows, but you can see in riptor's photo that safety yellow lacks the brilliance the original yellow had. Same issue occurs with pac man, just not brilliant enough. Slicker from Glidden is what I wound up going with (not that I actually picked slicker, after half an hour of matching and rematching it just happened to become that name in the system).

Thanks everyone. This is perfect information. Looks like a trip to the Home Depot this weekend.

I love latex but I'll tell you one thing... YOU BEST USE OIL BASED PRIMER AND TOP COAT ON Q*BERT. Why? That bitch will swell like a sponge. I had my cabinet "PERFECTLY SMOOTH" and when I stupidly applied water based primer (didn't know any better) all the bare wood areas swelled up (just rough as hell) so I was forced to sand again and reprime w/ oil based primer... After that experience I went out and bought another quart of Sherwin Williams Oil Based for the yellow.

I'm sure if you applied 1-2 coats of oil based primer and let it setup good for a few days you could apply latex over it... Just would recommend playing it safe and use oil base.

I used gloss oil base on mine. The picture makes the painted area look a little dull but it really isnt. When I had two QB's I put them next to each other and the colors looked dead on. I agree, wouldnt use anything but an oil base on QB or any cab with this composite board(cardboard wood is what I call it...aka crap). Does anyone know the real name for this material? We used the same stuff to make fiberglass molds, plugs actually but we called it mold board.
