I recently had my Qbert Power supply go out and take out the sound board. So I rebuilt 2 power supplies and 2 sound boards. Now I got the power right and I still have a sound issue. When I turn on the machine it says "Hello I am Turned on" Then if you start to play it will start randomly saying it throughout the game. I will be in the middle of a board and it will say "Hello I am turned on" and sometimes then the sound just quits except a hum. If I push the test button at that point it makes some interesting sounds. Not sure what I should do. Let me know if you have any idea. PEACE

The most common problem that causes weird sound issues with these is the 74LS377 on the main board goes out. Its at the top of the board near the edge connector right about in the middle of the board.

Jerryme, how did this end up working out for you? I am having the exact same problem and am looking for some advice. Anyone else who has an ideas, I would appreciate it.

Here are a couple of things I have run across while dealing with my qberts.

With the machine turn off and unplugged.

Pull the sound connector. Look at the pins in the connector..
What you looking for is a bent pin in the connector.
Bent pins means you don't have a good connection.

Clean the edge of the sound card with a stiff fiber glass brush or a pink eraser. Eraser the edge connector until no more black oxidation comes off.

As riptor stated the 74ls377 chip will cause issues too.

Check the 5 volts on the sound card. Low voltage issue will cause problems.

Check the ground wire on p3. It goes to the sound card. A loose ground wire will cause the sound board to reboot in the middle of a game.

Good luck on your repairs

I ended up reflowing all of the solder on the soundboard and all of my sound issues have gone away. Thanks for the help.
