Hi,

My sound board and knocker stopped working.

Sound board:

I am trying to replace c27 and c 37 but I cannot tell their polarity. Anyone know what it's supposed to be?

Knocker:

Had a loose connection but after soldering it back into place, it's still not working. Does this run off 31v?

Thanks.

Your power supply probably crapped out on the 30v line. Unplug the sound board and leave it unconnected until you verify your 30v is ok. Hopefully you didnt toast the sound amp. When the power supply fails it sends excessive voltage to the sound board.

Thanks for the info.

The 30v light is out on the power supply. Will have to check to see if it's just the light...

How hard is it to repair the sound amp?

Its not just the led out. If you lost the sound and knocker at the same time then your 30v went on the power supply. The first thing you need to do is repair the power supply then see if your sound works. It doesnt always take out the sound amp but usually does.

Arcadeshop is selling switching power supplys for qbert now. You might consider installing one of those instead of fixing your original.
As far as the amp goes, Bob roberts is the only one selling them right now that I know of and its going to set you back about $20 with shipping. I sold out of all I had and wont be restocking them. I sell a replacement amp board that is designed to run on lower voltage than the original and uses a TDA2003 amp. If you stick with the original power supply some modifications are needed to use the piggyback board. However, it works just fine with the switcher since it runs on 24v.

Bob does not sell rebuild kits for QB power supplys unless he recently started selling them.
I do but dont think I have any put together right now. I would have to see if I have enough parts to put a kit together.

Great, thanks.

My Qbert has a switcher installed but it does not have 30v, it was getting it from the original PS.
