Qbert questions??

My QB bench rig started blowing that fuse a while back and it ended up being a bad filter cap 50K uf 25v on the brick.

is that the big blue cap? mine has a resistor(or cap, don't remember) on top of that big blue cap!

i don't have machine in front of me.....
 
one step to improving durability of your qbert is to eliminate the filter board.
 
I have a krull which was dead and is very similar to Q-bert. I replaced the bridge rectifier, filter cap and used a new resistor that is soldered on the cap. On my krull all the wires were directly soldered to the power brick. I did not resolder wires but added connectors like most games. Because of the BR failure one of the connectors to the power supply burned. It had the crappy insulation displacement connectors so I replaced with crimp ons. Replaced caps and a few transistors on ps board and now it works perfectly.
